Day 1: Strengthened with Divine Might
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man.
Ephesians 3:16 (KJV)
Reflection: Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians reflects a longing for believers to be empowered not by their strength but by the Spirit of God. This divine might is critical in navigating the trials and temptibilities of life. It’s this spiritual fortitude, drawn from the inexhaustible well of God’s glory, that bolsters our faith, making us resilient in the face of adversity.
Illustration: Consider a newly-built dam, able to hold back a rushing river because of its sturdy construction. It’s not the dam’s exterior that makes it strong, but the internal reinforcement. So too, God strengthens us internally by His Spirit, enabling us to stand firm against the rushing currents of life.
Prayer: Father, I pray that you would grant me the divine strength to face the challenges of life. Let your Spirit fortify my inner being, that I may stand firm in faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
