Day 3: Hearing God’s Reply
And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.
1 Samuel 3:10 (KJV)
Reflection: True communication is a two-way street; prayer is no exception. Too often we are quick to list our requests but slow to listen for God’s responses. Like Samuel, we need to offer God not just our words, but also our attention, saying, “Speak; for thy servant heareth.”
Illustration: Think about a game of catch. If one person throws the ball but the other doesn’t catch it, the game ends quickly. Similarly, we throw our prayers to God and must be ready to catch his responses.
Prayer: Lord, help me to listen as much as I speak when I come before you. Open my ears and my heart to hear your voice. May my prayer life be a balanced conversation with you. Amen.
