Acknowledging Our Sin – Beneath The Surface| Day 2

Acknowledging Our Sin – Beneath The Surface| Day 2

Day 2: Acknowledging Our Sin

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

1 John 1:8 (KJV)

Reflection: John’s words serve as a reminder of the universal nature of sin. Denial of our sinful nature only leads to self-deception. By acknowledging our sins, we take the first step towards God’s transformative grace. Let us remember that admitting our sin is not a sign of weakness, but of spiritual maturity, as it allows us to experience God’s forgiveness and cleansing.

Illustration: Imagine trying to clean a stained shirt without first acknowledging that it’s dirty. The stain will remain no matter how much we ignore it. Similarly, we must first acknowledge our sins to receive God’s cleansing.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we admit that we are sinners and we have fallen short. Help us to not live in denial, but to acknowledge our sins honestly before You. We are thankful for Your forgiveness and cleansing that follows our acknowledgment and confession. Amen.
