Day 3: The Consequences of Unpreparedness
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Mathew 25:10-12 (KJV)
Reflection: Being unprepared has eternal consequences. The foolish virgins found that out too late. We cannot afford to be lax in our spiritual preparations; the stakes are infinitely high—eternal life with Christ or eternal separation.
Illustration: Remember missing the school bus as a kid? You had to either walk or get a tardy slip. Missing the bus was a temporary problem, but missing out on Jesus’ return has eternal ramifications.
Prayer: Lord, help us always to be vigilant and prepared, living our lives in a way that reflects our readiness for Your coming. Amen.
