The Bitter Reality – Haste Makes Waste | Day 2

The Bitter Reality – Haste Makes Waste | Day 2

Day 2: The Bitter Reality

And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

Luke 15:14  (KJV)

Reflection: This verse paints a vivid picture of the harsh reality that the younger son faced after squandering his inheritance. His hasty decisions, driven by his impatience and desire for immediate gratification, led to a life of hardship and need. The bitter circumstances he found himself in are a stark reminder of the detrimental effects of not waiting on God’s timing.

Illustration: Consider a person who decides to ignore the process of baking a cake and puts the batter in the oven without preheating it. The result will be a doughy, undercooked mess – far from the sweet treat they desired.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, remind us of the consequences of rushing ahead of Your plans. Teach us to trust in Your wisdom and timing, even when the wait seems long. Help us to learn from the mistakes of the prodigal son.
