Love and Commandments – The Joy of Obedience | Day 1

Love and Commandments – The Joy of Obedience | Day 1

Day 1: Love and Commandments

If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 14:15 (KJV)

Reflection: This verse lays the foundation of our relationship with Jesus—it is a relationship that thrives on love. But this love is active; it demands expression through our actions. To keep His commandments is to actively participate in the love we profess, recognizing that His instructions are not burdensome but are life-giving.

Illustration: It’s much like a young child who, out of love and respect for their parents, willingly does their chores. Even when they would rather play, they understand that this obedience is a way to show their love. The tasks become easier because they are done with a loving heart.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us understand that our obedience to Your commandments is a direct reflection of our love for You. Teach us to find joy in following Your path and to remember that each commandment is an opportunity to show our love for You. Amen.
